On 30 August 2023 a draft for the Health Data Utilization Act (GDNG) was published. The Health Data Utilization Act aims to improve access to qualitative and representative health data so that they can be used promptly for care, public health, research and innovation and for the further development of the health system - in compliance with data protection requirements. This Act also takes the first steps to prepare the German health system for integration into a European health system within the framework of the European Health Data Space (EHDS).

"Epidemiology in Transition - Innovations and Challenges" is the motto of the 18th Annual Meeting of the German Society for Epidemiology (DGEpi). The event will take place in Würzburg from the 26th till 28th of September 2023.

Research data form the basis for knowledge and innovation throughout all scientific disciplines. They play a fundamental role in the progress of our society. The key to using these data treasures is an effective infrastructure. With the first edition of the Conference on Research Data Infrastructure from 12 to 14 September 2023, the Association German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) is initiating a conference that will focus on establishing interdisciplinary research data management (RDM).
Last week, we were finally able to meet again in person and discuss how to get health data FAIR - that is, Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. It was an exciting and productive few days!

NFDI4Health was represented at the Dataverse Community Meeting 2023, which was held at the University of Minho in Braga, Portugal, from June 5th to June 7th, by Johannes Darms and Vera Clemens. Dataverse is an open-source software designed for research data management, facilitating the dissemination of FAIR research data across various disciplines. The Community Meeting brought together developers and users of the Dataverse software from various backgrounds to discuss and exchange knowledge.
