The European Association for Health Information and Libraries (EAHIL) met from 11 to 14 June 2024 at the National Library of Latvia in Riga. A workshop by NFDI4Health introduced international participants to the fundamentals of research data management and the FAIR principles.
For NFDI4Health, Birte Lindstädt and Julia Fürst conducted a workshop titled: Introduction to research data management (RDM) for personal health data The workshop covered fundamental principles and best practices of data management for health data. In an interactive session, the instructors introduced ten participants from medical (university) libraries across Europe to the basics of research data management. They presented NFDI4Health services and demonstrated how data can be collected, documented, stored, shared, and archived throughout its lifecycle according to FAIR principles. Special attention was given to the importance of metadata as well as ethical and legal aspects, including data anonymization and compliance with privacy policies.
We are eager to see participants utilising the tools learned in the workshop to handle data responsibly and effectively, and we look forward to further community growth!
