The webinar series Meet-the-Data@ Gesundheitsforschung by NFDI4Health & BIH QUEST is entering its second round. The series showcases valuable datasets from leading research institutes across various fields of health sciences. This time, we are looking beyond the horizon to England.

Webinar Meet-the-Data: The datasets of the UK Biobank

We are pleased to welcome guest speaker Ben Lacey from the UK Biobank and the University of Oxford:

UK Biobank is a large-scale prospective study and research resource containing de-identified genetic, proteomic, metabolomic, imaging, lifestyle, environmental and health outcome information from 500,000 UK adults who have now been followed up for over 15 years.

It is the most comprehensive and widely-used dataset of its kind, and is globally accessible to researchers who are undertaking health-related research in the public interest, whether they are from academic, commercial, government or charitable settings. Over 30,000 approved researchers from more than 90 countries are now using UK Biobank data. 

To enable more researchers across the world to access these data without limitations of transferring, collating, storing, and accessing data at this scale, UK Biobank launched a cloud-based Research Analysis Platform. This session will give an overview of the UK Biobank study, what data is available, and how to go about accessing the data through the cloud-based platform.
