The Meet-the-Data@Gesundheitsforsuchung webinar series, hosted by NFDI4Health & BIH QUEST, presents valuable datasets from leading research institutes across various fields of health sciences.

Webinar Meet-the-Data@Health Research: Data from NFDI4Health in Focus

In the final session, the focus will be on NFDI4Health data. Carsten Oliver Schmidt and Timm Intemann from NFDI4Health will explain the data application processes using two data-providing organisations as examples.

Part 1: FAIRequest Portal at University Medicine Greifswald
Carsten Oliver Schmidt will introduce the data transfer office and the FAIRequest portal of the Community Medicine research network at University Medicine Greifswald. Through FAIRequest, researchers can apply for data from the Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP) and other Greifswald studies. Launched over 25 years ago in the northeasternmost part of Germany, the SHIP study now includes three cohorts with more than 10,000 participants, who undergo medical examinations and lifestyle surveys every five years.

Part 2: BIPS Research Data Portal
Timm Intemann will provide insights into the data application process at the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology (BIPS). Through the BIPS Research Data Portal, researchers can request data from studies such as IDEFICS/I.Family. The data transfer office serves as a central communication hub, provides study data in accordance with FAIR principles, and supports researchers throughout the entire process. Data analysis can be conducted at the research data centre, on a central analysis server, or via DataSHIELD.

Part 3: NFDI4Health Presents a Unified Approach
The Meet-the-Data series has introduced six different ways for researchers to apply for health data. In this final session, NFDI4Health will present its approach to consolidating and standardising these processes on a central platform. In collaboration with the German Health Research Data Portal (FDPG), NFDI4Health is further developing the central online portal of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) to provide secure and privacy-compliant access to health research data from various organisations.
