In the webinar series Meet-the-Data@ Gesundheitsforschung by NFDI4Health & BIH QUEST, leading research institutes present their valuable datasets from various fields of health sciences.

Webinar Meet-the-Data@ Gesundheitsforschung: FDZ of the Robert Koch Institute

From cohort studies and registries to epidemiological and clinical studies – these datasets can be requested by researchers to address new research questions. However, the application process is not uniformly regulated. Different legal regulations, varying data processing requirements, and the lack of a comprehensive infrastructure for research data have led to individual solutions. In our series, we aim to bring together data holders and researchers.

In the second session of Meet the Data@Gesundheitsforschung, Jens Erling from the Research Data Centre (FDZ) of the RKI will present which datasets the FDZ provides and how these can be applied for. These are primarily the population survey studies conducted by the RKI, namely "Health in Germany" (GEDA), the "Study on the Health of Children and Adolescents in Germany" (KiGGS), and the "German Health Interview and Examination Survey for Adults" (DEGS).  In all three surveys, the health status of the respective group was assessed using representative population samples. A special feature of the KiGGS study is the combination of both longitudinal and cross-sectional study designs, allowing for a wide range of research questions to be examined using this dataset.
The presentation will also cover the different options to apply for the data, i.e. for the "Scientific Use File" (SUF) and "extended data reuse."
