In health research, researchers and data-holding organisations face the challenge of sharing sensitive data securely while also complying with legal requirements. Numerous factors must be considered:
- Data Preparation for Secure Exchange: How can health research data be prepared in a way that ensures data protection while maximising scientific us?
- Minimising the Risk of Re-Identification: Which methods, such as pseudonymisation and anonymisation, are suitable for reducing the risk of re-identifying individuals?
- Synthetic Data: When and how can synthetic data be used as an alternative to meet data protection requirements without compromising scientific integrity?
Legal Perspective:
Professor Dennis-Kenji Kipker will explain the legal frameworks for secure and data-efficient processing of health research data during this talk. He will focus particularly on the new European guidelines on pseudonymisation, which have been open for public comment since the beginning of 2025.
