Online course for good epidemiological practice

With regard to the increasing number of clinical non-interventional, observational and epidemiological studies during COVID-19 pandemic situation, the need for appropriate (online) qualification options for the planning and implementation of these studies has become more apparent.

Good Epidemiological Practice of the German Society for Epidemiology for the planning and implementation of observational studies with the aim of generating reliable evidence through high-quality non-interventional studies is applicable, as the requirements of Good Clinical Practice for interventional trials with medicinal products.

Non-interventional studies (e.g. data collection during use) are also becoming increasingly important in the area of benefit assessment of drugs and medical devices. Taking into account the increasing importance of non-interventional studies, not only in the current pandemic, but also in the evidence-based assessment of therapeutic strategies on the one hand, an online Good Epidemiological Practice training developed within the NFDI4Health Task Force COVID-19 program offers a significant contribution to strengthening high-quality studies in Germany.
