Podcasts are becoming an increasingly important tool in science communication. They offer a way to present key research topics to diverse audiences—ranging from specialized expert interviews to accessible introductions for the public. Recognizing this potential, NFDI4Health explored the topic in its “How to Podcast” workshop.

With great enthusiasm, Heidi Seibold and Joyce Kao from the Digital Research Academy introduced participants from NFDI4Health, FARagro, DIM.RUHR, and the Hermes-Hub (Humanities Education in Research, Data, and Methods) to the world of podcasting. A special highlight of the workshop from February 18-19, 2025 in Cologne was the guest appearance of Katy Brand, a renowned podcaster, comedian and screenwriter. She shared her extensive experience and provided hands-on advice on voice control and storytelling.

Over two days of intensive collaboration, the participants produced six podcast episodes on research data management. These episodes are currently in **post-production** and will be released soon.

For anyone considering starting their own podcast: Heidi Seibold and Joyce Kao have created a short podcast series explaining the fundamentals and key techniques of podcasting in the research field. Listen in.
