DataSHIELD is a privacy-compliant analysis platform based on the code-to-data approach, widely used in European research networks. One keynote addressed the use of DataSHIELD in the EU Child Cohort Network. Another key topic was the presentation of new features and packages, as well as revised structures within the community. Florian Schwarz from the German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE) introduced the dsFunctionCreator package, which will facilitate the development of a standardised test and code review toolbase for the DataSHIELD codebase. Sofia Siampani from the Max Delbrück Center (MDC) presented the NFDI4Health standard process for data curation with DataSHIELD, which she co-developed and implemented.
On the sidelines of the event, a working meeting took place between Juliane Fluck, Florian Schwarz, Vera Clemens, and Marius Neubert from NFDI4Health, as well as representatives from English and Chilean health systems. The goal was to exchange progress on the work in each country and strengthen international collaboration.
We are pleased that NFDI4Health's contributions to DataSHIELD generated significant interest and look forward to contributing to the consolidation of project structures.
